Esteemed Actor Pat Finn, a versatile actor, Recognized For Roles in The Middle and Friends, Passes Away at the Age of Sixty.

American performer Finn, who appeared in popular TV shows like Friends, Seinfeld and "The Middle", has succumbed aged 60.

The comedy and improvisation performer died at home in Los Angeles, California on Monday after undergoing cancer treatment since 2022, as reported by media reports.

"Pat considered no one a stranger - solely future friends he didn't know yet," his relatives stated in a statement.

They added that he had "embraced life completely - with happiness and energy".

An Extensive Career on Screen

His debut TV appearance was on a show starring George Wendt in 1995, where he portrayed the titular character's brother.

He was also seen in a repeating character on Murphy Brown in the latter half of the 1990s.

He appeared as a party host named Joe Mayo in Seinfeld in 1998, portraying a social organizer famous for delegating burdensome jobs to his guests.

During the 90s and 2000s, he had guest spots on numerous popular shows, including:

  • "King of Queens"
  • Friends
  • That '70s Show
  • "House"

He was most recognized for portraying Bill Norwood in The Middle, appearing throughout eight seasons from 2011 to 2018.

His cinematic roles include "It's Complicated" and "Santa Paws 2".

A Life in Improv

Beyond his acting parts, Finn was a skilled improviser and also taught at the University of Colorado, where he was a professor.

He was involved with a comedy group of six called Beer Shark Mice.

"He taught, supported, and inspired countless students throughout the years and it would be difficult to find a person anyplace who has an unkind word to say about him," his relatives stated.

Offering condolences, fellow actor Richard Kind said there was "no kinder, gentler, funnier, grounded individual you could encounter".

"Always positive, assisting others to improve and be funnier. An excellent dad and person," he shared online.

Finn is leaves behind his partner Donna, his children, and his family.
