Iran Reports Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, During Regional Counterattacks.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any damage is uncertain and the United States has not commented.
Missile Defenses Activated
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - stated they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the region.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the offensive on Iran carried out by the US and Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces stated it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates stated that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported wreckage landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some structural damage and killing a civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the Emirati Air Force.
