Norris Tops Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice Session
The British driver has outscored Oscar Piastri at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri for the quickest lap in the dying seconds of practice at the Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after winning in Mexico City two weeks ago, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Until that point, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver for most of the session before sprint qualifying scheduled for 6:30 PM GMT.
The Red Bull star, the other racer in the points battle, lying 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team followed a alternative strategy.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to have an incident, though minor, when he spun at Turn Four early in the session.
Tsunoda lost control over the curbs on exit before spinning across the escape zone, and was lucky to avoid just a minor contact of the wall.
The Ferrari of the seven-time champion also had a spin, at the final moments of the session, turning around through the quick descending corner before the last turn on to the main straight.
The seven-time champion finished practice in 19th place, trailing team-mate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren drivers were far ahead of the rest of the field, with Nico Hulkenberg's Sauber third fastest, 0.619secs off the Australian's time.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Bortoleto fifth from the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and the Williams of Sainz.
