Star Rejects Anti-Vaccine Stance After Lending His Voice To Contentious Coronavirus Film
The acclaimed actor has given his voice to a feature-length documentary that casts doubt on the legitimacy of vaccines and lauds former health official RFK Jr.
The Documentary's Provocative Origins
Named "Plague of Corruption," the film is inspired by a popular book published by a controversial scientist, who rose to infamy during the global outbreak for claims that the virus was a result of a faulty batch of the seasonal immunization.
Her co-author, Kent Heckenlively, has also written books with far-right radio host a known commentator. The producer took to social media celebrating Neeson's participation in the project.
An Unequivocal Rebuttal
Representatives for Liam Neeson have provided a statement firmly refuting implications that he subscribes to anti-vax sentiments.
"We all recognize that corruption may occur within the drug industry, but that should never be equated to being against vaccines," the response explains. "He never has been, and cannot be described as, anti-vax. His extensive work with the global charity highlights his long-held support for worldwide vaccination initiatives."
It noted that the star had no hand in the documentary's narrative and that questions about its assertions should be directed to the creators.
Major Assertions Within the Film
In the film, the narration read by Neeson includes several provocative claims:
- It claims that pro-immunization voices have called for "complete compliance" to public institutions.
- It declares that "science has become deeply politicized."
- Robert F Kennedy Jr is featured saying, "The big problem with vaccines is that they simply are not safely tested."
- The narration takes aim at pandemic restrictions, saying they caused mental anguish that cost thousands of lives.
- On the topic of Covid vaccines, it cites a perspective that they were "rushed to market" and seen as "hazardous tests."
Historical Background and Current Issues
The film further cites a past television report about AIDS medication trials on children, which was afterwards the subject of a correction by the corporation for violations of guidelines.
In recent weeks, RFK Jr called on the Centers for Disease Control to alter its long-held position that there is no causal relationship between vaccines and autism spectrum disorder. This assertion is also referenced in the film, contrary to a fresh analysis from the global health body confirming no evidence has been found.
A Previous Record of Advocacy
Contrasting the film's tone, Neeson has formerly voiced clear advocacy for vaccines in his role as a UNICEF goodwill ambassador.
In 2022, he called vaccines as "an incredible achievement," stating that "The conversation about vaccines in lately has forgotten how much good they have done... It is perhaps one of the biggest collective achievements in our history."
The film finishes with Neeson's voice stating, "This isn't the end of our journey. It is the dawn of a different phase."
