Supporters Urge Arrest of Man Who Seized Ariana Grande
Devoted followers of Ariana Grande are calling for that a man who leaped a barricade and seized the performer during yesterday's Wicked: For Good debut be taken into custody or deported from Singapore.
A circulating clip reveals the individual from Australia shoving aside camera operators and rushing toward Grande while the actors proceeded down a event pathway accompanied by supporters.
Co-star Cynthia Erivo immediately wrested the shocked star away from Mr Wen, who was seen being led away of the premiere by event staff.
Mr Wen posted on Instagram Thursday evening that he was "let go after being arrested", though official papers revealed that he was due to appear on the next day. It is uncertain if he was charged.
Pattern of Event Invasions
This is not the first time for Mr Wen, who describes himself as a "Troll Most Hated", has crashed a concert or event. His Instagram profile includes clips of him disturbing other celebrity events, including jumping on stage at the artist's Sydney performance in recently and in a like fashion during The Chainsmokers event in the city last year.
"Measures must be taken enforced against him as this is clearly a legal violation," stated an Instagram follower, in a message to a video Mr Wen uploaded of his actions.
"This appears to be a habit... why are you not imprisoned?" another Instagram user questioned.
Supporters Voice Worry Over Grande's Safety
Many fans criticized Mr Wen for "re-traumatising" Grande, who had spoken of experiencing trauma-related anxiety after a terrorist explosion at the conclusion of her May 2017 show in Manchester, claiming the lives of 22 people and harming numerous individuals.
"The star has endured numerous terrifying experiences... including the Manchester tragedy, and you believed breaching security was amusing?" said another message on Instagram.
A number of supporters also criticised guards at the Thursday event for not being sufficiently alert; while others demanded social media platforms to ban Mr Wen's content.
Response and Premiere Information
In footage spreading on the internet, Grande seemed shocked when she was grabbed by the individual. Her fellow actors Michelle Yeoh and Erivo can be observed consoling her while Mr Wen was removed by security.
Grande has not issued a statement on the event, and the premiere activities continued without further issues.
Hundreds of supporters had congregated in a mass of emerald and rose at the Wicked: For Good Asia-Pacific launch in a Singapore shopping center, including several who had stood in line for as long as many hours before it began.
The movie, to be premiered on the 21st of November, is the follow-up of a dual version of the acclaimed theatrical show Wicked, which focuses on the unexpected bond between two contrasting witches.
The production itself is a adaptation of the 1900 story The Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
Grande, who portrays the benevolent sorceress Glinda, was decked out in a rosé glittering gown at the premiere while Erivo, who portrays the wicked witch, wore a elegant ensemble decorated with roses.
They were joined by fellow actor Jeff Goldblum.
The previous installment, Wicked, was the highest-grossing motion picture of last year in the UK, and earned a dozen Academy Award nods, winning two for excellent wardrobe and artistic direction.
