The Blue Jays Claim Fall Classic Matchup Versus defending champion Dodgers
George Springer contributed to the Astros claiming the championship in 2017.
Canada's MLB team earned a spot in their maiden World Series following the 1993 season by beating the Seattle Mariners in the final Game 7 of the American League Championship Series.
Down by two runs, the star outfielder hit a three-run homer in the seventh inning, propelling the sole Canadian team in MLB to a four games to three triumph in the best-of-seven series. They will now face the Los Angeles Dodgers, the team that is the defending champions, in the upcoming Fall Classic.
"I'm thrilled for everyone here, Toronto, Canada," said Springer, an integral part of the Houston Astros team that claimed the 2017 championship. "It's truly an unbelievable moment."
George Springer has now connected for 23 October home runs, placing him third all-time trailing only Ramirez (twenty-nine) and Jose Altuve (27).
"There's probably not another person in the world that I want up in that situation besides Springer with his October magic," remarked Schneider.
Seattle's team, after leading the series two games to none and three games to two, remain the one club that has never reached in a World Series.
Wilson said "without a doubt that it hurts" in the wake of his club's elimination at Rogers Centre, but commended their efforts in the campaign.
"It's a special team. Sadly that we finished on the losing end of the series," he continued.
Toronto's team secured the championship on their two prior appearances in 1992 and 1993, and will host the Los Angeles in the opener on the upcoming Friday.
