The New Animated Series' Introductory Sequence Chose the Incorrect Popular RPG Show Track

The Mighty Nein, the newest animated adventure by the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new opening credits. It showcases the beloved group of outcasts, outcasts, and rogues kicking ass and taking names, while teasing at multiple heart-wrenching backstories for key figures such as Liam O'Brien's wizard Caleb, and Travis Willingham's orc warlock, the character Fjord.

All in all, the intro looks stunning. However, I felt that something was missing in the song choice.

This sequence employs "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional song composed by artist Colm McGuinness. It's a track originating from the official score of the same name, the second release put out by the production company's record label their music brand. It's a great nostalgic option, and I believe that fans of the sequel series will love its presence.

But for me, The Mighty Nein's intro fails to capture the excitement and energy that accompanied the show's live-play sessions. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter the artist, became an immediate hit for me when it was first revealed in that year, and it only got better when cast member Sam Riegel added lyrics to the tune for the series' animated intro in the later year.

Featuring vocals from one actress, Laura Bailey, Travis Willingham, as well as the writer, the track was memorable and fun. At the time, I hadn't even watched the follow-up series yet, but this was such an earworm that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you start an installment of adventurous fun.

The Mighty Nein's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" fails to hit the same chords in my opinion. It's an impressive composition, but from what I know of this party, I feel that its tone is a little off.

Naturally, the creators has stated that the series will have some surprises and variations from the original live sessions. A tonal change for its opening appears as among these.

The Mighty Nein will be released on Prime Video from November 19. If you can't wait before that, or want a head start to learn about the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are accessible on Spotify and the video site.
