The President Invites Families of Attacked National Guard Members to the Presidential Residence

Former President Trump revealed on Sunday that he has extended an invitation the family of a National Guard member killed last week to attend the presidential home.

He mentioned that he spoke to her family and they were “devastated”.

Information on the Heartbreaking Shooting

US army specialist Beckstrom, 20, was lost her life in a shooting on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, US air force staff Sgt Andrew Wolfe, 24, continues receiving treatment in serious condition.

Gatherings across West Virginia have occurred in their memory.

Presidential Call

The president said he’s talked about a meeting at the presidential residence for the parents of both members of the West Virginia Guard.

“I said: ‘When you’re able, because that’s a difficult moment, come to the White House. We’re going to pay tribute to her,” Trump addressed journalists. “And in the same way with him, whether he recovers or not.”

Community Reaction

Mourners gathered over the weekend at Webster County high school in West Virginia to pay respects to Beckstrom.

Both the soldiers had been fulfilling duties with the West Virginia National Guard as part of the president’s national effort to aid policing efforts in the capital.

Paying Tribute to the Soldier

“Sarah was the individual that teachers hoped for. She behaved with inner fortitude, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that inspired people around her,” Hankins, the head of Beckstrom’s former high school, told the Associated Press. “She was sweet, caring and always ready to help others.”

Service arrangements for Sarah are in the process of planning.

Judicial Measures and Policy Changes

Officials have indicted a 29-year-old Afghan national with a charge of homicide and charges of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The event prompted the government to pause asylum processing and cease granting visas to holders of travel documents.

Condition of Wolfe

Andrew Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, enlisted in 2019 and is a graduate of his local high school, per the news agency.

He continues to receive treatment and is “battling to survive”, the state’s governor Morrisey stated on television.

Attorney general Pam Bondi told the program that she also intended to meet with the family.

Legacy of Beckstrom

Sarah, from Summersville, graduated from Webster County high school in 2023 and joined the military shortly after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, as stated by the state guard.

“She had a lot of compassion and she certainly had fortitude,” the governor informed the gathering at the memorial. “Though her life was cut short, she has made an impact that’s going to be remembered always.”
